Title: Open/Save Dialog boxes in Scribus for Mac
Post by: AndyScott53 on April 29, 2020, 05:26:33 AM
I am using the Mac version of Scribus.

It's a beautiful app, and does everything I want except for one thing -
The open and save dialog boxes usually default to the root level of my disk, which is annoying when I constantly need to re-navigate up several levels to find the folder I am working with.

Does anyone know of a workaround for this?
Unless I can solve this quickly i will post this job on Freelancer.com.

Assuming I can afford to pay someone to fix it, how would I then offer the improvement to the rest of the world?

This job requires someone to modify the open-source app so that it enables the user to save up to 10 folders or files in the left pane in the open and save dialog boxes.

i cannot test on mac nor with scribus 1.4 anymore. but the issue might be resolved in the development 1.5 version (or in the qt version used by 1.5)

on my computer i can simply drop a folder from the right side and it will be in the list of the bookmarks.
but i know that there have been issues with that in the past, so you might want to test if it works on your computer with one of the latest builds:

you can pick the lates 1.5.6-svn dmg from here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/scribus/files/scribus-svn/1.5.6.svn/

you can install several version of scribus side by side, but take care not to open files with 1.5.6 that you will later open with 1.4. files saved with 1.5.6 cannot be opened with 1.4 anymore!

it still doesn't work on macOS 10.14.6 with scribus 1.5.6-r23576.
