Title: qt file browser
Post by: gtomorrow on November 10, 2017, 12:06:39 AM
Hello, all. I'm running Scribus 1.53 on OSX 10.9.5. Every time I summon the file browser dialog to open or save a file, it never remembers any changes made (e.g., changing from "list" to "detailed list" or adding a folder in the sidebar) during the same session. Even after resizing the dialog window, it always returns to the original size. Is there some hidden qt settings either in the Scribus package or possibly somewhere in ~/Library that would make these changes permanent?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum gtomorrow.

As you might have guessed, you're not the first person to notice this sort of thing.

Some related Mantis tickets are:
* https://bugs.scribus.net/view.php?id=13950
* https://bugs.scribus.net/view.php?id=12333
* https://bugs.scribus.net/view.php?id=12068
...and I'm sure there will probably be many more.

I have no idea if anything will change regarding this. It's down to the developers and their priorities.

Hi Garry,

Yeah, I did a search (actually a few searches) regarding this but except for a post on this forum from 2011 IIRC nothing relevant came up. I noticed in the comments of one of the bugs you linked to it'd said (since 2016) the bug had been fixed...for Linux, not OSX...or macOS...or whatever they're calling it these days  ;D .

Thanks for the welcome. I'm sure you all will be hearing me bitch about something else in the near future!  :D

Regards,
Grey

The last time I asked about something to do with this - can't remember where I asked - it was that the favourites weren't being kept in the OS X version. I was told that it was something to do with Qt and it would probably be fixed in 1.5.x. (The same sort of question was asked here: http://forums.scribus.net/index.php/topic,457.0.html back in 2012 with no answer.)

Whatever happens to it, users like me that are using the stable version - on any OS - won't see any difference until 1.6 (perhaps).
