I have just installed Scribus and I'm excited to learn how to use it, mostly for Zines.
I have enabled a dark theme but I'm still getting a bright grey page layout colour. Sorry my terminology is way off but I don't know what to call it.
I've attached an image to illustrate the are I want to change the colour.

Last post by jirib - December 21, 2024, 02:56:23 PMI can confirm it: the import makes the text to literally _look_ well but the link between original paragraph/character styles is lost.
This is bad for two things:
1. one cannot update the text via styles since all styles are default one (both for paragraph and characters)
2. the language defined for styles (ie. in Scribus only character styles have language value) are lost; this impacts spell check

Last post by AdmFubar - December 18, 2024, 05:11:58 PMI think the most use tables would have would be handling speadsheet data. Perhaps getting some assistance from the open document foundation for updating tables in scribus? I'm sure they would be interested in assisting.

like AdmFubar, the first thing i noticed is that there is no way to rotate the items on canvas.
i'm not sure that pressing R should be necessary. but it still might be the best solution for scribus.
the second point, is about the item names. even if they can be disabled, i really wonder what's the use for them.
somehow, i'd like to see a real use case for that, before implementing that widget.
personally, i believe that seeing the name in the outline palette is more than enough.
concerning the tables, i think that we really need to have a workshop on how they should work!*
for the images: do we want to have a button in the middle for loading the image?
for the text frames, it's less straightforward, since one might rather want to start typing...
we could have multiple buttons: lorem ipsum, load text, start typing...
only when it's empty.
LTR will be a challenge. it probably needs to be a document, frame, paragraph and character setting!
finally, being able to edit the bezier nodes "on canvas" would be terrific. on the other side, i'm not sure about all the gradients definition on canvas (but i rarely use them, so i cannot really judge).

Last post by a.l.e - December 17, 2024, 05:50:18 PMi guess that for what scribus is concerned, it would be better to create a "scripts" toolbar, with one button for each script you want to launch.
working in a similar way as the new "Script > Scripts..." menu entry in scribus 1.7.
i would use the same preferences settings for detecting the directories with the script and place some sort of manifest in there, that defines the script one wants to attach to a directory.
the alternative, would be a more complex preferences dialog, where one could add and define each button...

1. Open - a file (which will read folder structure and load data)
2. Create - which will create a new file in a folder structure and file has to be created based on an existing template
3. Save - which saves and also exports into different formats and meta data files
4. Load Content - this runs an API connecting to a CMS and loads text and media files which gets added to the open file
What we have figured out is - if this menu is running while the page is open, the Content Properties are not showing. But if we close that menu which is running in background and then try to load content properties it opens.
Now we are thinking of docking the menu so it stops running from the background and only loads when we want to perform some function.
Any ideas on how we can dock the menu will be helpful

The purple color is just a placeholder color for selected frames, and can still be changed in the preferences.

Windows / Cache image initialization iss...
Last post by AlainB - December 16, 2024, 06:30:32 PMI've been using Scribus 1.6.2 on Windows 11 for a few months without any problem.
When I launched 2 instances of Scribus almost at the same time, the program froze.
I tried to remove it using Windows Task Manager, but without success.
I rebooted Winbdows 11 and relaunched Scribus, but it froze in the image cache initalization phase.
I reinstalled Scribus but it still hangs at startup in the image cache initialization phase (even without loading any .sla file)
