Title: Preserve original image quality on inclusion
Post by: Oblomov on September 25, 2023, 03:49:20 PM
Hello,

is there a way to export to PDF "keeping" images as much as possible? By this I mean using DCT encoding for originally JPEG images, using the original bitstream if possible (no recompression), and LZW or Flate compression for PNG/GIF/TIFF? I can set some of this manually but ideally it should be automatic.

not sure where you are going with this, but will take a stab at it anyway..
From what I can infer from you message, your message, you dont want any compression applied at all to any images? and/or a preferance to use certain compression for some image types, when exporting to a PDF?

In the Pdf export dialog, have you tried to set the compression method to "None"?

If you have a somehow modern version of Scribus (the latest released 1.5.x will do), you can check if the image is included as is with Scribus itself:

I haven't tried it myself (and feedback is welcome...), but it should work.
