Title: WORD file importation to SCRIBUS html
Post by: Ribus on September 29, 2020, 10:05:40 AM
Hello,
I realize a small revue for years now - 200 pages.
From the beginning I receive WORD files with notes, italic and many small details.
I found a way to save everything. By a WORD macro I changed specific characters for example "fine space" (Alt+8201) from WORD to SCRIBUS.
Then I open WORD file in OpenOffice to save it in html, then go in SCRIBUS. It works well, but I have small problems sometimes.
When in WORD Font changed from normal to italic, sometimes the space is eat by SCRIBUS.
I also have Cyrillic text where spaces disappeared (not all).
In WORD : [Кикимора, рассказ русского крестьянина на большой дороге]
In SCRIBUS : [Кикимора, рассказрусскогокрестьянинана большойдороге]

If somebody can do something, many thanks in advance,
Richard

hi richard,

can you please share a .doc or .odt file with the sentence in russian?

pasting the string below into libreoffice and loading the odt into a scribus text frame seems to give me the exact same string.
with a space in front of д.

btw, please make sure that the font used in scribus does have the fine spaces...

ciao

you seem to indeed use 1.5.0svn.

please update to the latest 1.5.6svn or at least to 1.5.5.
it's not a good idea to use an old development version.

i have tested with the "liberation sans" font and the result seems ok to me.
at least: it does not look like in the pdf you provided.

I tried 1.5.5. all russian text is together with no space.
I need to use notes from WORD and Times new roman then very bad news for me.
Thanks,
Richard
