Title: converting comic bubbles
Post by: kelargo on December 29, 2016, 08:19:54 PM
Hello,

My question is stemming from this somewhat old post ..

http://forums.scribus.net/index.php/topic,15.msg756.html (http://forums.scribus.net/index.php/topic,15.msg756.html)

I'm not sure how to import and or convert the *.sce files in bubble.zip.

I looked at the file in gedit..  the beginning of the file is this, but I'm not sure what to do next..

<SCRIBUSELEMUTF8 W="262" H="161" YP="83" XP="285" COUNT="2" Version="1.3.3.13svn" >
<FONT NAME="Times New Roman Regular" />
<COLOR Register="0" Spot="0" RGB="#f0f8ff" NAME="AliceBlue" />
<COLOR Register="0" Spot="0" RGB="#faebd7" NAME="AntiqueWhite" />
<COLOR Register="0" Spot="0" RGB="#ffefdb" NAME="AntiqueWhite1" />
<COLOR Register="0" Spot="0" RGB="#eedfcc" NAME="AntiqueWhite2" />
<COLOR Register="0" Spot="0" RGB="#cdc0b0" NAME="AntiqueWhite3" />  ....

Any suggestions?  thanks.

Welcome to the forum kelargo.

The SCE files are scrapbook items. Extract the zip to an appropriate folder, then in Scribus open the Scrapbook (menu Windows -> Scrapbook). Then press the Open icon and point the dialog at the extracted folder. You should see the balloons once you OK the dialog.

Hi,

Thank you.. I was able to click to add the directory and I can see them appear and be available.

What kind of editor is used to create these?  I can see how I'd like to modify them and change their characteristics.

thanks again.

You just use Scribus to edit them.

Drag one onto the page, edit it how you like, then right-click and choose Send To Scrapbook then pick which scrapbook to save to and give it a new name. (You might then need to save the scrapbook to keep the changes, I can't remember off the top of my head.)
