Maybe you have set the line color to »none«? The rectangle will display on screen, but not appear in the PDF.

Can you do a preview (the eye icon)? If the rectangle is visible in preview, it will definitely print.

To be honest, you need to color calibrate your hardware to the printing device. Soft proofing/printing with color profiles otherwise. I send my printing to a print shop that uses GRACOL color profile, so I design with that profile. Very long topic, web search will be best in advice for this. Calibrate your monitor with a device like:

I just tested making 2 boxes, one with a think border and it saved as a .pdf just fine, guess we need a sample file from you that doesn't work in order to see whats wrong (.sla) and what version are you using on what kind of system, also are you printing as .pdf or having Scribus save as .pdf?

You missed the point of my suggestion entirely.

See attachments.  The one with the box is what it looks like in the Scribus editor.  When I export to PDF, it looks identical except that all of the boxes are missing.

Linux / Colorprofile for print not shown
« Last post by Bogo75 on July 27, 2021, 12:41:41 pm »
Hi,

I use Scribus 1.5.7 on Gentoo Linux and can't find a way to install an icc color profile from Saal Digital.
In particular I try to install/use Fotobuch Matt. I have unzipped the archive and copied the included .icc to /usr/share/color/icc/
Unfortunately in Scribus color management settings only my monitor settings are shown which I have copied exactly to the same folder.

Is there something wrong with the icc profile (Darktable accepts it btw) or is there something I have been missing?

Thanks
Simon

How do I set colors in Scribus 1.5.7, and have the best result (least difference in color) between what I see on screen and what I have printed?

Beginner Talk / Importing content to multiple pages
« Last post by johntennock on July 27, 2021, 07:34:49 am »
Hi All, Just getting my head around Scribus to prepare a book for publishing.

The manuscript is being created in Libre Office. It seems most efficient if I could import it directly and the procedure I am following is:

Page | Insert | 20 pages.
Insert | Frames... Text, All Pages, Link inserted frames

My issue is that I would prefer to import the content by selecting the source document in the Insert Frames | Options tab.

This works fine except that it inserts a space between paragraphs. I have checked the manuscript to ensure that there are no empty paragraphs.

If I go the alternative route and copy/paste the content into the Story Editor it is fine, without spaces between paragraphs.

I'm wondering if there is a setting I am missing to strip the empty lines when importing directly?

Thanks in anticipation.

Beginner Talk / Re: How to the remove marges when printing ?.
« Last post by alexsunny123 on July 25, 2021, 02:56:09 pm »
Hello,

I'm a beginner, and I have problems for printing. Ometv Chatroulette Omegle Bazoocam

I first use A4 portrait pages and try to print 2 pages on A4 landscape (as we can do with OpenOffice), but the print page is always in A4 portrait, the print is bad.

So I decide to change the page format to A4 landscape, and reduce the first content (fonts, ...) to choose the page : A4 (pages en regard)

But, when I print, I have big marges on the top, the left, and the right, and all the pages which seem correct in the page are wrong on paper.

What do I miss ?

thanks
alexsunny

thanks for the awesome information.

hi admfubar

at the moment scribus supports sample text for 21 different languages (including arabic).
you may still miss some languages, and i didn't try any rtl features (as i'm not familiar with rtl languages) - but it's not just 'lorem ipsum'
