Title: Numbering one out of two page
Post by: guips on May 30, 2016, 01:20:19 PM
I'd would like to know if it is possible to automatically numbering one out of two page without omitting any number.

In fact I would like that my right pages (odd) are numbered 1, then 2, then 3 and so on. And my left pages (even) aren't numbered. Is there any way to do it ?

Now my right pages are well the only numbered pages, but they are numbered 1, then 3, then 5, actually the numbers of left pages is only hidden.

Thank you for your help

I don't think there's a way to do what you want automatically, not with 1.4.x anyway.

One messy way round it would be to change your layout to a single page layout and make your pages twice as wide but that won't work if you're getting your document printed.

Another horrible way round it would be to create your pages with all of the numbered pages together then all of the other pages together, then using some other software to re-order the pages once the PDF has been created. Like I said, it's a horrible work-around.

If Scribus allowed for calculations within fields (and I think 1.5.x might be able to do something like this but it's been a long time since I looked at it) then you might be in with a chance. If you can try 1.5.x then it might be worth having a look and seeing if it can do what you want but I can't give any guarantees.

Apart from the above, a script might help to automate things but that's another thing altogether.
