Text and Typography / Can't find alternate glyphs on...

Hi !

I just bought a Candelas plus font, with alternate glyphs that are supposed to work at least on illustrator, photoshop or adobe edition.
I've tried to use them on scribus, I've found glyphs linked to this font (by going to insert - caracters - glyphs) but I haven't found the alternate glyphs I'm looking for.

Do you know if I could get access to all of the alternate glyphs of this fount via scribus ?

Thanks a lot,

For reference anyone with the same problem:
The default font is under:
Document Setup > Item Tools > Text > Text > Font:
The font here can be substituted with another font on the system/in the document to get rid of the warning.

This thread helped me find this location.

Thank you all for the help. I found some solutions thanks to you, although they all feel like workarounds in a too limited software.

General Discussion / Dependencies solver

Organization changes from time to time, but the dependencies of Scribus and Openshot files are a terrible obstacle changing organization.

For example there is

archieve/special.videos/2021-05-27 solar with pictures SLA and OSP files.

I would like to move this to

internet/ solar

but dependencies make this very complicate.
There are about 50 such project folders to move.

What about a software checking all SLA and OSP files in the whole file system for dependencies
and solving rename and move problems?

you also have

- extras > picture browser (which you can reach with the keyboard by typing "alt x p")
- insert > frames (which has a terrible UI)

since loading images and text have the same keyboard shortcuts, it's not currently possible to trigger the inserting of the image without a frame already been selected...

probably, having two different shortcuts might be a better solution, but

- "alt f i" is mostly fast enough
- it needs a new concept on how frames are (created and) filled and there is some work to get there...

i don't see changes coming soon to this part of code...
Scripts and Plugins / Re: Add shortcut to a script?

0015617: custom buttons and shortcut for scripts (the feature request you linked to) does not contain any code that could be merged.

i guess, that a toolbar (with shortcuts) would be easy to implement in some way, and it would be just a bit harder to implement it well.
if somebody (with programming skills) wants to give it a try, i can help.

adding keyboard shortcuts is harder and, probably, currently not possible without some changes in the way scribus defines the shortcuts.
but as you can read in the linked pages, you can use the action search (and a well crafted script name), to start a script with the keyboard (if you're not faster with alt r r s enter to run the latest recent script in the navigation...)

personally, the one thing i'd like to have is 0015579: [PATCH] add user's scripts to the navigation, which has a patch that needs testing (and from what i read, also some feedback on why a specific thing does not work).
i have not touched (nor used) for a while so i don't know what's the state of the patch.
but i can work on it, if somebody joins in...

as far i can tell, you can do that with modern versions of scribus:

- create an image frame,
- got to file > import > get image...,
- select all the image files you want to import (with the same limitation, that they have to be in the same folder),
- click on the selected image frame to place the first image in there.
- click and drag (or shift-click if you have well crafted guides) to place all the other images one after the other ones (the frame will be automatically created).

looks very similar (if not identical) to what you describe...

Quote from: PatJr on November 12, 2023, 01:06:01 AMnot that I know of, maybe you or someone could write a script that would do something like that

what you describe doesn't sound much different the dragging and dropping an image onto a page from a file manager to scribus

just tried it, you will need to dittle with the scaling if you don't already have an image frame on the page

thanks i like the script idea since i can do a lot and maybe import more images faster even than the affinity tool.

and yes there will be always manual resizing afterwards since the images are not the same.

maybe i'll share my script when i get it working soon.

Is anyone aware what stopped this feature request from being merged? It was said that it could allow assigning shortcuts to python scripts.

It would be a really useful feature - I'm trying to assign a shortcut to the "" script.
