General Discussion / Re: Images change size when I open my file (with video)

hi sap

…Maybe it's actually the contour line I'm using ? My software is in French so I have no idea what's the term in English…

in your french setting you should check 'modifier le contour'

hi sap

your video is marked as private – no access for me!

when you edit the outline and your image is set to fit the frame size, i would expect the image to change its size as well.
…but there seems to be a bug as the changes won't display before you reload the document. (not even after 'extras' → 'update document') – you could file a bug report.

for the text flow you should rather use the contour line than the outline of the frame. (in the edit window you can check the box 'edit contour line'…) this would keeb the image as it is and only affect the text flow.

edit: i just saw that you already reported it…

Hi! Thanks for letting me know, I changed the video settings to make it unlisted. Maybe it's actually the contour line I'm using ? My software is in French so I have no idea what's the term in English (and I can't find scribus-centered forums in French)

My fiance works in IT so he somewhat guided me to making a bug report, I hope what I posted there was useful.

Maybe now with the video it will make more sense ?

Thanks again!!

General Discussion / Images change size when I open my file (with video)

Hi all

I previously made a post on another part of the forum but I felt bad misplacing my post so I'm making a new one here. Hope that's alright.

I have an issue with my images changing size sometimes when I close and then open a file. It seems to happen mostly on images that I change outline of and/or are outside of margins. It's more likely to happen when I change the bottom part of their outline rather than the sides or top. I've experimented a bit to draw to these conclusions - but that doesn't help me understand what causes it and how to fix it... I made a recording of the process so you guys can have a better understandong of what I'm dealing with.

Also, my Scribus is in French, so excuse my French (literally)

Thank you for your help !!

hi hamur
  • open your 594mm wide file.
  • go to 'file' → 'document setup' → 'layout'.
  • change 'single page' to 'facing pages' and set the first page as a 'left page'.
  • switch to the 'general' tab.
  • change the size to 'A4' and check the two boxes below.
  • click 'ok' and you're almost done.
all your items are where you had them before. you just need to insert a second page to host them…

You can at least import pages from one document to another, but I am not sure if this will help. I have never used the function, maybe it supports importing just specific layers.

General Discussion / Disjointed View 1.5.8
« Last post by HAMUR on April 29, 2022, 12:16:10 pm »
Hello,

I regularly experience a, how can I say? Disjointed view when working with Scribus 1.5.8. I have screen shots don't know how to upload them onto this message. If someone can tell me how I'd be happy to share.

Essentially the text or guidelines will be disjointed. When I click on that area with the mouse they re-figure but the disjoint often moves to a different area of the document.

Is this something to do with Scribus or is it my computer?

The problems are not there when I export the document. It is just when working with it in Scribus.

This is not a major issue but it does make me wonder about the stability of the program.

Any advice very welcome.

Hi Nermander,

Thanks for your input. Your right. I have just tried it again with a new document set-up as Utnik suggested. It seems to work now. I'm not sure what happened as I was definitely exporting to PDF but, well, it's all working fine now.

I am still unable to adjust the document settings to the work I've already done to achieve this (as mentioned previously in point 2.). Is there away to achieve this? It would save me an awful lot of work. Or alternatively, is it possible to copy layers from one document to another?

Thanks again for the support.

I have never experienced that Scribus rotates the pages during PDF export. My primary guess here is that you are not using PDF export from Scribus, but are "printing to PDF" and the "PDF printer" is set to portrait.
