PDF Generation / Re: Urgent : Perte de couleur à l'export en PDF
« Last post by utnik on Today at 06:17:31 am »
hi meloe56

i suppose, your colors are partly outside of the range of your printing profile.
the printing color space (cmyk) is much smaller than the rgb space your screen can display.
lots of vivid green tones can't be printed with the standard process colors.

PDF Generation / Urgent : Perte de couleur à l'export en PDF
« Last post by Meloe56 on December 06, 2021, 07:29:57 pm »

General Discussion / Re: Two problems with Scribus 1.5.3 running under Mac OSX

I used to use only to use the stable version, but I went up to 1.5.3 to see if a new version would fix the problem, it did for a bit, then things slowed down again.
Scripts and Plugins / Calendar Generation Tool
« Last post by bastianilso on December 06, 2021, 02:23:37 pm »
Hi everyone,

I saw rafferty's nice scripts/GUI application for generating calendars, and thought maybe I can make something which generalizes into all kinds of calendar designs or layouts. Personally, I am working on a bullet journal for 2022, and have to generate 12 months with date lists for each day + a year calendar at the beginning - ideally, I want to just auto-generate the bullet journal for 2023 next year without changing the layout. :-)

The scripts searches for any "text templates" inside a given selection such as "$w1" which you can think of a bit like a special character for page numbering (see page below). The scripts identify them and replace them with the real text, decided by what month or year you chose. This should make it them quiet flexible for a lot of use cases. The repository includes some Scribus objects which I used to built the bullet journal, and can be used as a starting point for your own layouts.

I made this to save myself time, but I hope it might be of some value to the scribus community too. It doesn't cover all cases yet but pull requests are welcome, if you come up with handy adaptions or find bugs.

Beginner Talk / Re: Duplicate a group of pages??

Hi everyone,

Found this on web search, ran into the same issue (I was working on a year calendar and had to duplicate 5 pages corresponding to one month). Just wanted to say I made a script to perform this action:

I hope this helps anyone searching for something like this in the future.
Text and Typography / Re: setText Changes Alignment
« Last post by bastianilso on December 05, 2021, 04:40:12 pm »
I experienced the same as MattMiller - i figured its because setText first removes all text and therefore all settings applied to the previous text before it inserts the new text - this behaviour can be simulated in scribus editor too. To work around the problem, I implemented my own "replaceText()" function, which inserts the new text, before it deletes the old text. Essentially it creates the same result as setText, except it "remembers" the settings from the previous text in the text frame.

Code: [Select]
def replaceText(text, item):
    txtwidth = getTextLength(item[0])
    insertText(text, txtwidth, item[0])
    selectText(0,txtwidth, item[0])

I hope this can help someone who search for this issue in the future.

xcode on macOS Big Sur had problems. Developers had to install a new version, but users couldn't get it unless they registered as developers. As far as I remember, Apple dropped xcode for Big Sur until the next macOS release.

Installed the python3 version of Scribus 1.5.7 and I am getting this error:

There is a problem loading 1 of 55 plugins.
This is probably caused by some kind of dependency issue or old plugins existing in your install directory. If you clean out your install directory and reinstall and this still occurs, please report it on

I looked through Mantis and the solution to this is to install Xcode. I have Xcode installed.

I'm on an Intel Mac Mini running MacOS 12.0.1

Sorry, I misunderstood what you meant. Yup, that part with the Color Sets doesn't work at all. As far as I remember, the last time it was fully functional was in version 1.4XX.
