[SOLVED] poor color saturation in images when creating pdf for "Printer"

Previous topic - Next topic

I'm using scribus 1.4.1 for Linux.  When I create a pdf for my printer (using the "Printer" setting) the colors are all washed out in my jpg images.  Conversely, when I create a pdf using the "Screen/Web" selection I get great image colors... but cannot obtain a rich black background for lack of using the CMYK rendering model.

The result is this; when printing the pdf generated for CMYK I have terrible image colors... using the RGB model gives me good image color and less than a jet black background.

Any ideas?

Thanks

hi wgregory,

if you're goal is to print on your local printer (as an engine sitting near to your computer), just use RGB. consumer printer are mostly expecting RGB as an input.

if you really want a CMYK PDF, you will need the correct ICC  profile for your printer (and for the images...).
scribus is using those profiles when converting from RGB to CMYK...
