Scribus vs Inkscape vs Gimp vs Paint.net for food product labels

I'm sick of the commercial solutions...opens source works better and the support is also 10 times better.

But what would be the best choice to design labels for jars? Doesn't need to be to complicated but versatile.

I'd use Inkscape together with GIMP. GIMP for bitmap/photo editing and Inkscape for assembling bitmap images, vector drawings and text.

Scribus could be used for the latter but I find Inkscape easier.

Haven't used Paint.net.

i would follow nermander's suggestion – scribus is a type of overkill for this...
