I can't import ai... it doesn't work.

So i try to import pdf file, it work but scribus add a line in the logo...

I don't understand why ?

Have you an idea ?

Thank you.

How did you "import" the PDF?

If it is a logo, it would probably make sense to use an image frame.

If you are using the import function from the File menu I think it may try to import as vector graphics, but you may be better of taking the detour through doing that part in Inkscape to get an SVG.

i would try "file > import > get vector file" and see if scribus can import the pdf correctly as native shapes.

if that fails:

  • you might want to open a ticket in https://bugs.scribus.net and attach the pdf (you can mark the upload as private, then only the devs will see it).
  • try to load the pdf in an image frame.

What OS (and version) are you  using?
I grabbed a random .ai file off the net and imported it. No issues.
What software did your friend use to create the logo?
Using Scribus 1.5.8 & 1.6.2, openSUSE 15.5

Hi all,

Thanks for your answer !

I'm using Windows 11 with Scribus 1.6.1

The ai file was made with Adobe Illustrator in native. Scribus don't import it without error message.

The logo have an open shape. So Scribus add the final liento close it.

When i import pdf, in the import window, i see the pdf correctly but after the import, scribus modify it !

I think i will send it to the devs for reporting a bug.

Thanks

Nice logo : - )

Since there seems to be only one small issue with the imported shapes, you can simply fix your logo after you're imported the PDF as a vector:

- ungroup the logo
- start the "node edit" mode on the shape that should not be closed
- use the "cut" tool in the node editing to cut both nodes that are wrongly joined
- delete the now loose segment
- exit the edit node mode
- group again the items (technically, you can alt-click the item in the group that you need to edit and, then, you don't need to first ungroup the items in the logo)

I've attached a .sla with your logo in the ticket your have created.

P.S.: Here is also a short screencast with the simpler shape you uploaded:

Thank you. I'm sorry but it seems i don't have the same version of scribus.

In the node mode, i don't have cuting tool...  :-[
