Importing text and character styles

When I import and ODT (created in LibreOffice) document, the character style is not imported.

According to this bug report it should work but doesn't: http://bugs.scribus.net/view.php?id=9858

A workaround that I thought of would be to change the character style in LibreOffice (LO) to another font, then do a search-and-replace in LO and apply direct formattering (ie no style). Then in Scribus I would do another search-and-replace for this font and replace it with a character style. Unfortunately the search-and-replace dialog in Scribus only seems to support paragraph styles.

Does anyone have a good solution to this?

I'm using Scribus 1.4.1svn on Ubuntu 12.04.

the importers still do not support character styles.

afaict, somebody is working on it... but i'm not sure that it will be applied to 1.4 (that is: it will probably go into 1.6)

sorry

Thank you for your reply!

Is there a workaround? As the Search-and-replace dialog also doesn't support character styles I fail to see one.

no workaround, afaik.

i don't think that it would be hard to implement in the search and replace dialog or in the scripter... but somebody has to do it...

it will almost certainly be done for 1.6 (at least for the scripter and importing filters!) but i'm not sure that somebody will backporting it to 1.4...

so, the workaround would be to find somebody in your neighborhood that can contribute it to scribus!
