Split text frame

Is it possible to split a single text frame in two linked and contiguous one? This might be helpful to flow text over two differently placed text frame after it's been placed over several pages.

Or do I need to do this manually? I assume I would then need to unlink the text frame from the one on the next page, create a new empty one and relink the 3 resulting ones.
