How to merge multiple files into one file?

Hi,
I have started a project where I have several pages in different files and want to unite them in one. The only way I found is making a new page in one of the files, copy all objects in the other file and paste it. But then I lose all the layers.
Is there a way to easily unite two files?

are you talking about scribus, .sla files?  or document types?
