Combining Objects

Hi Experts,

I'm pretty new in Scribus. So maybe my question is a little bit stupid.

I'd like to combine 2 forms, a circle and a rectangle. The result should look like a keyhole.

Then I'd like to fill this form with a picture.

How can I do this, please?

Thx

hi johannes

select the circle and the rectangle, unite them with 'item' → 'path tools' → 'path operations' and convert the resulting shape to an image frame. ('item' → 'convert to' → 'image frame')

... this is the way you can do it with scribus. but the boolean operations in scribus will generate overloaded vector shapes. the shapes will be defined by four points each. but after the union there are hundreds of points to define the circle.
this may be good enough for a simple keyhole, if you never have to edit the shape again. but i do almost all the vector work in inksape and import the .svg graphics in the scribus files. in your case this will give you the same keyhole, but with seven points instead of hundreds of them.

Thank you @utnik, your hint was the perfect launch control for me. Just installed Inkscape and did the vector design there, now finishing the print project in Scribus.

Greetings :-)
