Using the Small Caps button in Story Editor

Hello,

This is my first query - so I hope I get it right! I'm using Scribus 1.5.4 with Windows 10 and have spent most of the afternoon trying to type GVIR in Story Editor but with the VI as small caps. I've tried highlighting the VI and pressing the small caps button at the top - but to no avail. I've tried to find the answer on the web without any luck.

I would be very grateful if someone could tell me how to do it. Many thanks, Roy

ps Maybe I should have said that I'm using Arial Regular font - I don't know if this is significant.

hi roy

- have you tried with a different font?
- have you tried to use the "window > text properties" while editing the text in the frame itself?

It is very important to be aware of that Scribus will only use glyphs that are in the font.

Other programs may create "fake" glyphs.

Fake italics is made by just slanting the glyphs
Fake bold is made by just making the lines of the glyph thicker
Fake small caps is made by making the characters smaller and upper case
etc.

But Scribus will not do such subsitutions.

I found this page with a few good comparisons
