Glyph is the symbol representing a letter.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glyph

So, to clarify, while many applications would do something like:

--- Code: ---Move to xxx, yyy
Insert "Hello World!"

--- End code ---

Scribus would do something like

--- Code: ---Move to xxx, yyy
Insert "H"
Move to xxx, yyy
Insert "e"
Move to xxx, yyy
Insert "l"
Move to xxx, yyy
Insert "l"
Move to xxx, yyy
Insert "o"
Move to xxx, yyy
Insert "W"
Move to xxx, yyy
Insert "o"
Move to xxx, yyy
Insert "r"
Move to xxx, yyy
Insert "l"
Move to xxx, yyy
Insert "d"
Move to xxx, yyy
Insert "!"

--- End code ---

And of course the latter will make the file larger.

jim78b:
But if write normal text ..in frames...there is not problems?

Nermander:
The example I gave you is how Scribus will output the text into the PDF if you have a text frame with the text "Hello World!".
