custom paths

Am attempting to replicate the example given under Creating Custom Paths with the Bezier tool.  The example given is that of a capital B.  I have no difficulty doing the first, top loop.  When it comes to do the second (bottom) loop, my many trials have been nil because the cursor is still dependent on the first one.   Can someone detail the steps involved in doing it. (The tutorial in  "Time for Action" glances over this second loop.)

hi guillaume

imo, the bezier tool in scribus is good for small tweaks, but i prefer doing more complex shapes in inkscape and then import or paste them into scribus.

in the specific case -- and if you really want to do it with scribus --, i would avoid "pulling the node" while creating the shape.
as soon as you have more than one point to "smooth", it gets hard to control it to get the result you want.

i would create an "edged" shape (just click on each node) and then double click on the shape to edit it nodes.
try to do it with as few nodes as possible.
do you need help for editing the handles on the nodes or that part is fine?

I do Inkscape too and I'll see there about doing the B.  And yes, tell me more about the nodes so I can remain in control of the subject.

hi gullaume

i've found this wiki page that explains a bit better how to do it in the way the book:

https://wiki.scribus.net/canvas/Bezier_Curve_Basics_-_Part_1_-_Simple_Geometric_Shapes

i'm still not sure that it's a comfortable way... but you can try.

this is the page in the official manual about nodes:
