Hello,

I'm having trouble opening a file. The file was fine yesterday, but every time I try to open it I get a 'Crashes due to signal #6' error.

Apologies, I have searched around but can only find threads relating to linux. The software is working fine creating new documents etc... but this document seems to crash the software.

Please help!

Thank you!

... it's maybe possible to rescue the content, but for that we need the .sla file...

I have been able to recover corrupted *.sla file using XMLCopyEditor.

http://xml-copy-editor.sourceforge.net/

Try validating the *.sla file (which is XML format).

If it cannot be validated then the internal XML code needs to be corrected.

[Later edit] If you search for "signal #6" you will find this thread which (although referring to Linux) identifies Qt libraries as cause.

Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately, I had to reproduce all of the work and never close the file as it seems once closed it cannot be re-opened.

The crash mentioned above definitely appears to be the same one I have. Apologies, I'm not the most technical of people. Please, could you be able to help me locate the equivalent fix for mac?

"solved by simply removing qt-at-spi package"

Thank you!

can you create a new file, add a text frame, save the file, close it and reopen it?

if you can do that, probably, your scribus is fine.

if you cannot, you should try to reset the preferences. i can post further instructions for removing the preferences, if this is what you need.

I can do that fine, I can also open earlier saves of the same document, but I now have several documents which I can't open due to the same error.

Could it be the size of the file?

Do I need to submit this as a bug somewhere?

at this point, yes, i think the best thing is to open a ticket at https://bugs.scribus.net and upload there one of the files you cannot open.
