Embed Video?

Hi
I have asimple question..I hope.

Does Scribus allow the importing of video to documents which can then be converted to pdf and emailed to clients?

I only want to create simple reports with images and embedded video, I was told by an ex scribus user that this was possible but I cannot see how.

Thanks
Dave

I don't think there's a menu item for it directly, but you can embed external links in PDF annotations.
Aside from that, there might be a way to script it.

to insert an annotation, select an object, ITEM>PDF Options>is Annotation

in the same section are the options for the annotation

Embedding media like audio or video files in Scribus documents is a perfectly reasonable wish since the PDF format allows for this media and Scribus is an Authoring tool to create PDF documents. However at this point there is no support to directly import and place this kind of media in Scribus documents. There is a feature request in the bugtracker for it though:

If you just want to link to the media file you can do that via the PDF Annotations. If it's a local file put file:///Users/Me/filename.mp4 instead of http://www.server.../filename.mp4

No. Scribus is not an Authoring tool for PDF Documents. It is a page layout program using PDF as intermediate format for print.

I'm not sure if that's such an easy statement to make. With Scribus great tools to create PDF forms, links, 3d objects it has long outgrown a mere prepress dtp tool. The world is changing.
