Letter stroke thickness

I am doing a business card that involves two oversized letters with only stroke, no fill, (as graphic elements, not as part of text).

At the moment, the outline is much thicker than I would like. Is there any way to make it thinner?

I have chosen the letter, gone to text-colour&effects and chosen fill=none and stroke=yellow and clicked on the "outline" icon.

hi karela

go to the 'outline' button, click and hold it a little longer until a linewidth editor will pop up.

An alternative would be to convert the text to outlines ("Item -> Convert to -> Outlines", "Item -> Ungroup"), then treat the outlined text as shapes.

That way you will have very specific control over the outline width and line type.

You can also convert the outline of those paths to strokes ("Item -> Path Tools -> Create Path from Stroke") and create all kinds of effects.

See the attached screenshot for a few examples.

NOTE: Before you convert the text to outlines make sure that the text has no outline set in the Text Properties, otherwise the outline won't be converted correctly.
