MacOS / Scribus 1.5.5 dropdown not working
« Last post by User30435 on February 06, 2020, 12:46:13 am »
In Scribus 1.5.5 the above menu dropdown is not working. There are arrows in bottom right corner but when clicked no dropdown. For example I can not choose circle under "Shape (S)" icon.

  • I have been using Scribus 1.4 version so I do not know from what versions it appeared.
  • I am using Catalina, but I do not think it is only in latest mac version

I am not writing to the bugs forum, because perhaps the issue is caused by missing software or something else entirely in my computer.

MAke a scribus file with just two images that cause the problem, save everything in one folder, Zip it and if its small enough upload here if not put in dropbox or another file share service and share the link and we will be able to test

Beginner Talk / Can not import odt file lists
« Last post by yichuang驿窗 on February 05, 2020, 08:15:52 am »
When a odt file (made by libreoffice writer v6.3.4.2) was imported into scribus text frame, the numbered list lost.

The attachments are the screenshots and the odt file.

How to make the imported lists style work?

My System:
Debian Stretch 9.11/gnome
Scribus 1.5.5svn 23095(Build ID: C--T-F-C1.15.10-64bit)

Features / Use Python 3 instead Python 2 - external path
« Last post by Eng.DarkAlchemist777 on February 04, 2020, 09:34:25 pm »
How can I use Python 3 instead of Python 2 (discontinued) on Python?
I'd like to configure the Python 3 directory instead of the built-in installation. So I could update my Python to a newer version and no depend on a static version.
The image illustrate the idea.

can you make a sample .sla file that this happens in so we can test it and see what's going on?, what's your set up (PC) and version of Scribus

(Though, frankly, this seems like a lot of drilling down and manual configuration for such a super common - if not default - design feature.)

I agree, it's too complex a process. You can mitigate some of the pain by using the 2 "Enlarge..." sets of buttons in the "Nodes" dialog.

Have you tried setting another font in "Settings/Display font"? It works for me (Scribus 1.5.5).

Beginner Talk / Questions Regarding Table boarders
« Last post by Mobilesailor on February 04, 2020, 03:32:25 am »
Greetings! I'm working on recreating some tables that I've made in word (image below). So far I've been able to duplicate the general structure of our datasheets (image below) but i still have a few questions regarding how to use tables, specifically...

- Am I able to make visible only several sides of a table border? I am aware of how to make the border of an entire textbox visible, however, with the way I have everything set up I only need some of the borders of a given textbox to be visible.

- Is there a way to have the textboxes expand as I type in them? That is one of the benefits of working with tables in Word/WPS, but it seems to be the case that if I type past the bounds of a textbox in Scribus the excess words simply disappear beyond the border of the text frame. This is not exactly the end of the world, as I know I can adjust the textboxes accordingly, but it wouldn't hurt if I could use that feature.

And my general question is whether or not my table is efficient, or if there is a better way to go about creating these. I'm sure I have more questions regarding tables, but if someone is able to shed light on these questions that would be much appreciated!
