Title: Script for importing multiple .ps or eps files?
Post by: abonds on February 04, 2014, 05:40:58 pm
Hi, a newbie, InDesign user, very impressed with Scribus development and would love to migrate.

I'm trying it in both 64 and 32 bit Windows versions.

Question: Would it be possible to write a script which imports a large number of logically numbered .ps or .eps files, one per page (or 2 or 3).
I know there may be filesize limitations. Some of my projects run to 200 pages in InD.

I am assembling musical scores generated as Postscript by Score (San Andreas Press) the program of choice by the major publishing houses.
It is still DOS (believe it or not), running in Command Prompt in Windows XP, and later in DosBox. The Postcript output is very high quality and renders very well in Scribus (as it does in InD).

Typically, a music page occupies an entire A4 or Letter page. Sometimes there might be 2 or 3 files per page.

But placing the Postscript images one by one on consecutive pages is very time consuming, boring and an invitation for RSI.

I notice there has been a script published for placing images in a photo album or stamp album format.

I wonder if it would be possible to write a similar Scribus one for my purposes.

I notice that it is not necessary to create an image frame for .ps or .eps files as it uses the existing bounding box dimensions. So it really just needs to be placed at the 0,0 reference point, or maybe centred on the page.

I am not a scripter, but would appreciate any assistance from the gifted.

I too :-) Samtimes in Scribus can be found solutions better than in Big dtp programs.

Here there are scripts which works with jpg, png, pdf etc and can import images.

I'm not sure but perhaps when replace for example jpg in eps in script it will be work.
If not, convert Your ps, eps file in pdf, ghostscript can convert even full folder with eps files in pdf files.

Last year I just needed import multipage pdf in Scribus, and after splitting on separate pdf (one page - one file), scripts from wiki.scribus.net helped import all pdf files in one Scribus document. In this script You can change Paper format etc.
