Title: How to have image visual across bleed lines in generated export
Post by: Stefaan on October 30, 2017, 09:59:28 AM
Hello,
When exporting my document (simple A4 page) I have the desired bleed (including bleed marks) but images on the page get cut (are not visible) outside the bleed area. How can I make them visible up to the border of the pdf?
See attached scribus view + pdf export result.
Scribus version 1.4.6
OS WIN10

Thanks for any good advice!
Stefaan

hi stefaan

you need to define the bleeds in the 'pre-press' tab of the .pdf export window (or check 'use document bleeds').
...or you could enter your bleed settings under 'document setup' → 'pdf export' → 'pre-press'...

Thank you for your reply utnik. These are indeed the different options that I tried. The bleed (including bleed marks) is correctly applied in the pdf output but I was wondering if there was a possibility to have the 'exces' image areas (that go beyond the bleed lines) visible in the output pdf.

hi stefaan

what i see on your uploaded .png file is what happens if you don't export the bleed area (exactly what my first post was about...)
if you can't manage to export with bleed, you should upload an .sla file for testing.

Hi Utnik,
I thought having been thorough. I retried what I think (my understading) you meant to tell me but with no succes.
I welcome your suggestion to share the .sla file (see attached - hope that will do without the source images)
Thank you!

Hi Utnik,
You're right I didn't correctly scale the image boxes in the version I sent you.
Nevertheless your help shed a clear light on a misunderstanding I had.
The bleed marks (in my example set at 3 mm) do not indicate the cutline of my printwork (in my case the A4 page borders)....
The crop marks do indicate the final result (a4 after cut) right?

Thanks for your help with this 'non issue' (although it did bother me ;-)).

Cheers,
Stefaan
