Title: layer saturation issues
Post by: WHYz on February 08, 2018, 07:33:51 PM
Hi, I've made a layer in my document that I set to 40% so that it is muted, but still shows. However, when I print it, it shows (and prints as 100% still. How do I get it to print correctly? (BTW: it _did_ print correctly once, but I'm not sure why, since I'd dot changed a thing since the earlier...and later...printings.)  ???

i think, you did!
you most probaply changed the .pdf version. (.pdf 1.3, x-1a and x-3 don't support transparencies while the higher versions do.)

That is interesting. I HAVE made it a pdf in 1.3 (as well as an sla), but I have been printing it in the sla version. So would printing it as a scribus doc make it print differently if you had also made a pdf in too earlier version? (I'll check this out on Friday when I head to my printer, since I saved the pdf in 1.5 now.

The general recommendation is: Do not use the Print function in Scribus. It doesn't work properly. Always print from the PDF. The PDF is your final proof before printing.

That explains so-o-o-o much! Sometimes things print perfectly; sometimes not. Thanks for the advice, Gary. I'll be PDF printing a lot more now....and in the latest version!! You two were so helpful!  ;D
