Title: remove formatting from all text in document
Post by: caigner on December 03, 2017, 10:48:00 AM
Hello!

Is there a way to remove all formatting from all text frames?

I have several text frames and I would rather have an option to remove all formatting in one go than to select each text frame individually and remove the formatting from each text line within that frame.

Kind Regards,
Christian

Welcome to the forum Christian.

Unfortunately I don't think it's possible to fully remove all formatting from multiple text frames at the same time.
Once you select multiple text frames the Text tab of the Properties Palette becomes unavailable and you can't do a Find/Replace across multiple frames.

You can change the line and fill formatting of multiple frames but there's no way that I know of to change the text formatting en masse like that. It's not something I've ever needed to do so maybe someone else has a solution that I've missed.

If you have been using styles you can delete the relevant styles - making a copy of the style first to keep it for later - but that's messy and might not work properly (I've not done any tests).

There might be a way to do it with a script but someone else would have to advise on that.

P.S. All of the above relates to 1.4.6, I don't know if 1.5.x is any different.
