the lillypond authors seem to know about the issue but (probably) wrongly decided to do nothing...

can somebody who uses lillypond try to post a bug report for this issue with jean's explanation from the bug tracker and telling them that this shortcut makes hard to import the svg in scribus?
(i mean, they could keep track of the color used and always set it explicitly, instead of relying on a default value that seems not to be 100% standardized)

i've converted the spaces to tabs in a new patch.

since you're using git, for the future, you could try to learn about branches and making patches by using git diff among branches ...

a big advantage of this method is that you then have multiple versions of scribus installed (i have two), one with the master that you use for work and one with the patch you're currently working on and the other with the master for real work.

depending on how important a patch is for your current work, you can apply it to your master, but you will then have probably have merging issues when the patch is accepted upstream.

if you don't know much about how to work with git branches and want me to further explain how i do work with, just ask : - )

In the issue tracker @utnik pinned down this issue ..

The discussion of "currentColor" in lilypond output SVG file is found in lilypond forum

http://lilypond.1069038.n5.nabble.com/rsvg-view-can-t-display-SVG-files-created-by-lilypond-tc191462.html#a191496

I have found that string "currentColor" is in one location in lilypond installation.
In my Ubuntu 16.04 it is here ..
/usr/share/lilypond/2.18.2/scm/output-svg.scm

The path will differ in Windows.

As a workaround, this file can be edited to change "currentColor" to "black" throughout.

I searched to find "what is an .scm file ?".

I found this ..

https://fileinfo.com/extension/scm

Quote
What is an SCM file?

File Type 8
Schema File
Descriptor file that describes another document, such as an XML file; typically specifies the structure and formatting of the document as well as what type of data it can contain.

================================

[Later edit]

One option I explored before finding the above workaround was to pipe lilypond commandline SVG output through a filter to change "currentColor" to "black".

I read here that pandoc has a filter for lilypond.

https://github.com/jgm/pandocfilters

and here .. lilypond.py

https://github.com/jgm/pandocfilters/blob/master/examples/lilypond.py

I did not explore this idea further.

ah thanks! I thought qt creator defaulted to tabs!

Is that ok for those 2 patches ive done to be cleaned up manually by whoever import them?
Ive changed the setting so shouldnt be a problem in the future!

i've added a preview of what inkscape sees and exports as png...

let's hope that someone finds the issue...

hi gibbz,

i only skimmed through the patch... it looks mostly good!

there is only one detail:

- there are some tabs/spaces mismatch ("sadly" scribus uses hard tabs, not 4 spaces)

when working on the scribus you will have to configurate the project to use hard tabs...

and, of course, patches are always welcome!

yes, a patch for the scripter is probably welcome and is probably easy to add. the feature exists in scribus.

but i still think that it would have been better to keep scribus a bit simpler and document how to use python to transform a pdf into a png with a transparent background.
imo, scribus has the disposition to do too many things not that well... and i would sometimes prefer it would do slightly less but really well... most of all when there are already workflows for achieving the same result...

I figured as much. I only need basic output of png's. But that is on the list of basics :)

Guess I can look at making code changes for this while im at it... Thanks for your help in the other thread btw!

Yeah sure, I am trialing using scribus at work to replace coreldraw. So mostly advertising materials, newsletters and basic graphics.

Ive posted a bug, and now made a patch file (https://bugs.scribus.net/view.php?id=15441) what is the process of getting these changes included? As Im very keen to start using this fix :)

Also have some other bugs I want to look into from a usability standpoint before I can encourage the transition at work...
