Title: Importing from SketchUp
Post by: Jamie Cowan on March 18, 2012, 05:38:37 AM
Hi, I'm new and a slow learner, so please bear with me--Is it possible to move images created in Google SketchUp to Scribus?  I searched for this info in the forums, but was met with no results.  This has to have come up before, right?  Any insight at all would be appreciated.  Thanks.

says Sketchup /free version) can export to at least JPEG, TIF and PNG, which are formats Scribus can use.

I would recommend the, Encapsulated PostScript Format (.eps) format, it is one of the vector formats and can retain it's quality

Wena.

But EPS requires the Pro version (according to that page).

Ah, that's it!  Was having trouble with .eps, and didn't get the memo on the whole "pro" version of SketchUp, so thanks.  I'll try JPEG or one of the others.  Thanks for the help, I appreciate it.

TIFF is lossless, so you get "full quality", but images can get huge. But if space is not a limit I would use TIFF.

Among the compressed formats JPEG is best for "photo like" images, for "drawing" images PNG is the best choice. JPEG does not handle straight lines and solid colors good.
