Title: Can Scribus make PocketMods?
Post by: WandersFar on October 22, 2012, 11:12:34 PM
This program was recommended on another forum for creating a PocketMod template.

All I want to do is print plain txt files in this layout (see png) — eight pages running counter-clockwise from the bottom middle-left corner.

Is this possible in Scribus? How?

I've browsed through the wiki and quickstart guides, but I can't find the relevant section, if there is one. If you could tell me how to do this or direct me to a tutorial / wiki page, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

hi wandersfar

you can arrange 8 text frames, flip the upper row and link the frames in the desired order – see the attachment...

I wouldn't use Scribus for such a task, have a look at for example Multivalent Impose. You will then have to take the step of printing the text file to a PDF, and then Multivalent Impose to lay out the pages according to the imposition scheme.

I think the command would be like

tool.pdf.Impose -dim 2x4 -layout "7u,6u,5u,4u,8,1,2,3" input.pdf

Googling I found out that there is already a pdfjam-pocketmod, if you have a machine that can run pdfjam.
