Title: Scribus hide file operation and edit toolbar
Post by: mikolaskova on May 14, 2017, 06:57:37 AM
Hi,
how can  I remove  the  file operation and edit toolbar from the gui?

I did not find the corresponding entry in the Window Menu... where can I hide them?

(I want to display only the tools on the left and the properties on the right)

Thanks and regards,

Adriana

On 1.4.6, you should be able to right-click at the left-hand end of the "file" toolbar and un-check "File" from the pop-up menu. (On Windows - and from what I remember on OS X too - there is a visual "bar" which doesn't seem to be showing on your screenshot.) Whether this still applies on 1.5.2 I don't know.

Thanks. It's still the same for 1.5.2 as you described.

You're welcome but I think the "problem" may be with the OS you are using.

There should be a visual clue - in this case, on Windows, a "bar" made of short lines - that shows there is something you can manipulate but it isn't shown on your screenshot. If the visual clue isn't there then most people will not know that there is something they can use.

Or maybe it's just not shown when a menu is open, I don't really know.

hoi adriana

here is my incomplete tutorial on "cleaning up" the scribus interface:

https://github.com/aoloe/scribus-manual-first-steps/blob/master/content/clean-user-interface/clean-user-interface.md

among other things, it explains how to show/hide the toolbar (the screencast is still missing...)

and, yes, garry, that part of the user interface needs a rework!
