Title: OS X El Capitan - exporting to pdf creates jumbled text
Post by: NorthFalke on February 04, 2016, 06:51:17 AM
So I just installed Scribus tonight and have been working on a flyer for an upcoming event.

Scribus version 1.4.6
03 January 2016
Build ID: C-C-T-F-C1.14.6.-Mac/Aqua
Using Ghostscript version 9.18

Every time that I export the file as a .pdf the text becomes jumbled in that file (see attached pdf). While onscreen it looks fine and if I export it as an bmp or png the text appears just fine.

Does anyone have an idea on how to resolve this problem?

Thank you!

well, what i see in the pdf is not nice...

are you embedding the fonts?

without seeing the .sla (collected for output) it's hard to say what is going on...
all i can say: this is not a normal scribus behavior!

hi northFalke

for a flyer you should insert normal text frames instead of the .pdf text fields. the latter are for .pdf forms.

Thank you for the replies!

Can you tell me the difference between inserting normal text frames instead of .pdf text fields?

Actually, I'm all set with this now.

What I had to do was select Insert -> Insert Text Frame and that allowed me to insert text that wasn't displaying correctly.

Thank you for the great tips!
