Title: drag and drop a textfield exactly on the blue lines
Post by: Steinfaust on June 22, 2012, 03:28:14 PM
Hey,

I want to make a textbox as big as the blue lines but when I try to drag and drop it (to increase the size) it's jumping too far. I can't place the textfbox exactly on the blue line.

Screenshot for understanding me better:

Please help, thanks!

Drag-and-drop to position/resize objects is great for getting a general idea of what your document will look like, but isn't very accurate for final placement. Try the Properties Palette (F2 or Windows --> Properties). The first tab (X, Y, Z) will allow you to set the dimensions and position of your object very precisely. :D

HTH,

hi steinfaust

drag and drop is ok – but you need guides (an 'snap to guides' activated...)

once you have activated the guides, try what kind of wonders a shift click can do :-)

- choose the text or image frame tool
- press down the shift button and without releasing that button click on the area you want to fill

Just to make things clear: He wants "snap to margins", but I think that is controlled by the "snap to guides" setting.
