Title: Scribus 1.4.0rc1
Post by: marydonata on March 04, 2011, 06:25:02 PM
I downloaded Scribus 1.4.0rc1, and I think it imports SVG better than version before. What do you think about?
I draw with Inkscape, so it is an important feature, for me.

You can see the bugs resolved for 1.4.0 at http://bugs.scribus.net/roadmap_page.php. What "version before" are you comparing 1.4.0 to?

I am comparing 1.4.0 to the 1.3.3.14. I had some problems to import SVG with this version. I don't know if I made some mistakes, because I'm new with Scribus.
I am only a hobbist, I want to use Scribus to make a magazine with my works.
I am italian and it is not very easy for me to explain myself in english.

al limite puoi anche scrivere in italiano...
ma, per adesso, mi pare che te la cavi benone!

and you could attach some screenshots with the differences between 1.3.3.14 and 1.4RC1

Insomma, ogni tanto mi manca qualche parola!
But I prefer writing in english, so I improve my knowledge of the language!
This are the screenshots, in the first you can see that the file is not visible, it seems not to be imported, in Scribus 1.3.3.14, in the second the file is imported without problems, in Scribus 1.4.0.
The file is a svg file, made with Inkscape.
I'm using Windows XP, but I'm learning to use Ubuntu, in an other computer.

if it works in 1.4, then just use 1.4 :-)

there won't be any 1.3.3.15: the next version after 1.3.3.14 is 1.4.0 (which should be released very soon!)

Thank you for your reply. So it's better for me to wait the stable 1.4.0, if it will released soon.

It's the scribus-ng package and it's available for Maverick, Lucid, and Jaunty from the Scribus Archive already. See http://wiki.scribus.net/canvas/Ubuntu (http://wiki.scribus.net/canvas/Ubuntu) as ale suggested.
