Title: Trouble with PDF/X-1a export in 1.4.5
Post by: vltreude on July 05, 2015, 07:22:20 PM
Well, I'm making progress...
I'm running Ubuntu Trusty and after doing some belated system updates, was finally able to upgrade by Scribus to 1.4.5.
The trouble is in exporting my book to PDF/X-1a.
Per instructions on the web, I selected Preferences from the menu, then turned on color management, and also selected PDF/X-1a under the Preflight verifier.
There is, however, no PDF/X-1a option under the PDF Exports options, nor does it show up when I do export as PDF.
Is there some kind of gotcha I might be missing? A particular color profile option I should be selecting?
The color options should be a moot point, I think, since this book has no color, but I know this is a new option so it may be finicky.
BTW, the option DID show up in the "SVN daily build version" of 1.5, but I'm hoping to avoid having to use two versions of the same program.

Found the solution! I also needed to enable Color Management in Document Settings.
Once I did that, I could select PDF/X-1a under PDF Export.
When I brought up Export->Save sas PDF, PDF/X-1a was now the default type.
Another pleasant surprise: the exported PDF was much smaller than the one I'd exported under Scribus 1.5, 5 MB vs 81 MB.
It's been tough going figuring this program out, but so far it's been worth the struggle.
