is there a way to get Scribus to show you what it *thinks* the folder name and path ought to be?

Text and Typography / Re: What should I do to hyphenate the text?
« Last post by aureliobk on November 28, 2017, 01:58:52 am »
Hello there,

I have a similar problem. My text does not hyphenate when i copy and paste text from somewhere else. Hyphenation only works, when I type text. But that is not an option, as i have to copy and paste large text-blocks to create a catalogue. Is there a workaround or setting that I can use?

I'm working on a mac, with Scribus version 1.4.6 (and tried 1.5.3 too).

Thanks in advance for help.

Digressing from OP...

Yes, but that puts the spreads exactly as you lay them out, and if you do not manually impose the pages, you will get reader spreads instead of imposed spreads.  Also, the first and last pages do not get put into spreads within the pdf, they get left the actual size of the page and not the size of 2up spreads.  This works only when using inDesigns booklet printing option and nowhere else that I can see.  I just verified my answer with my inDesign v5.5, so unless something has changed in a newer version or I am completely out in left field.  There is a work around see:  https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2290315 but it would be easier to set up manual imposition to begin with.  But this is digressing from the OP

Beginner Talk / Trouble getting styles to apply and to update
« Last post by inkuser on November 28, 2017, 01:32:11 am »
For the most part, styles I create in Scribus work very well for me. There are times when they either don't seem to "want" to apply to text I apply them to, and/or don't want to update the text so styled by styles I modify.

To be clear, I make my styles first, then apply them. I apply them by highlighting the text I want styled, then I either Edit Text, or  use Properties>Text>Style Settings to gain access to and apply the style.

Any thoughts on why styles might be stubborn this way and how to make things better?

Thank you!

Neither PageMaker, Quark, or InDesign does what you are asking without third party software/plugin.
Don't know about the first two, but in Indesign it is possible to export as spreads without any third party plugin. It's not a new function, it was always available (at least from CS3 and beyond, don't know about older versions)

What version of Scribus are you using? Newer versions have a tool I think is calle Image manager where you can adjust paths (but I don't remember in what version it came).

But you will need to do it for one image at a time I think.

The other option is probably to use a text editor to search and replace paths in the .SLA.

Beginner Talk / Re-linking images if folder name or location changes?
« Last post by dezcat on November 27, 2017, 04:32:40 pm »
I have a project whose images reside in a folder I accidentally re-named. Naturally, Scribus naturally can't "find" and display the images. Is there a way to point my document to the images folders, or must I re-link each one individually?

Thank you!

Just to add to the answer already given, you can change that setting en masse by either:
* Preferences / Tools / Image Frame Properties / On Screen Preview - for future documents, or;
* Document Setup / Tools / Image Frame Properties / On Screen Preview - for the current document only.
