Datepicker ?
« on: October 11, 2012, 01:44:19 pm »
Hi !

I would like to know if a datepicker is available when pdf is generated. It would really help writing dates correctly.

Is there any way to include an already existing javascript datepicker ?

Thanks !

Exactly !

i found this code :

http://www.frequency-decoder.com/demo/date-picker-v4/js/datepicker.js

Acrobat Reader has this functionality.

It would be really awesome and helpful :)

Cheers a.l.e,

hi,

i don't think that you can use that js file for a pdf.

going up to http://www.frequency-decoder.com/demo/date-picker-v4 i only see html examples...

do you have any pdf that you can share with an example?

hi,

here is a link to a plugin that does it, but for acrobat reader :

http://mr49online.wordpress.com/2011/09/30/how-to-add-a-calendar-date-picker-control-in-pdf-file/

My file won't load the datepicker, since it might be a JS related issue, if it is what you want to know.

This feature would be so nice ! (mais vraiment hein ;) )

Cheers,

bonjour le hiboug

acrobat reader is on the other side of the workflow...

if you want to see the date picker implemented in scribus, we need an example on how to do it with a program that creates the date fields, not one that shows them.

however, from my side, i won't work on supporting a proprietary js library in scribus...
:-)

if you want to dig further in this topic i can give you some hints... but don't expect a miracle! you will have to do some work to get it!
if you know enough of js, it may be doable.

bonne soirée!

Please a.l.e !

Give me the hints, I will make it to work I hope.
Javascript is not difficult.

The task might, but, hey, that is the game :)

I wait to hearing from you ;)

hi hibou,

well, the starting point is "edit > javascript".

you will have experiment with it and check how you can introduce there some more complex javascript code and then call it when a button is clicked.

the second step will probably to test if you can achieve the widget you want to create with the tools that scribus currenlty offers (cf. the pdf toolbar).
you can compare the elements with what you see in the plugin you know about.
if anything is missing, you're welcome to start a discussion about it and finally make a feature request (http://bugs.scribus.net)

at the end, once we know that it's doable, we will have to check what's the best way to distribute it with scribus...

have fun
