How to spell check?

I just try to find out how to spell check

1.) Export as text - But this exports only the text of the current active frame
2.) Export as PDF, but no spell checker for PDF
3.) Export frim PDF as text, but this works very bad, spaces between words in many cases missing.

Anything I do not know?

Normaly, I get an answer lite "This is in menu ______ at ________ ", but now 7 people viewed my post,
but no answer.

So I wrote a short Perl script reading the *.SLA file and exporting all the text of a specified layer.

I have layers like

Background
English
German
Spanish

It would not make sense to mix all in one file, so I can specify layer English and get a file like

On page 222

Here goes the text of a text frame on page 222

With this method to export to a text file, I can now use any spell checker for the whole document

hi founder,

so, you don't get an anser overnight and you are worried about it?

however, scribus does have some sort of spelling check, but it has been reported by several people that it (often) does not work (correctly).

if the spelling check is enabled on your computer, you will have an entry for it at the end of the item menu, when a text frame is selected.
you need one of aspell/ispell/enchant to get it to work (not sure either which one is supposed to work and with which priority).

also, in the wiki, there is somewhere a python script that lets you export the whole text of a file into a text file (wit some comments).

and YES! it would be wonderful if somebody in the community could take the time to sort it out!
checking it on several computers, with different OSes, different spell library installed, ...
... and write a detailed rapport!

the usual contributors and the team don't seem to be enough interested / have enough time for it (and i must admit that there are more urgent things to work on... but if somebody new would work on it... :-)

have a nice day

October 10th starts the Frankfurt book fair.

I checked for this menu, but at me, it's not to find.

The invested time in the Perl script is good invested, because I have to make my experiences with the
Scribus XML to merge together contributions from translators.

It seems also to be necessary to generate automatic text frames.

I thought it's no problem to teach a translator

1.) Select layer English
2.) Select text frame
3.) Copy and Paste
4.) Right click menu -> move to layer Spanish
5.) Select layer spanish

Now I know, it's more easy to invest some hours programing in this task,
it's easier than to teach a translator this easy steps.

Now he is here in Salzburg, but I do not like to imagine remote support by Crossloop at a slow internet connection

BTW is Scribus maybe some where at the book fair?

I see there are many views on this thread and it came up first in my websearch, so here's a link that helps resolve it with scribus 1.4.x
