Scripting Documentation -- I'm Having Trouble Finding It

I'd like to learn more about the scripting engine for Scribus 1.4.1 and do not seem to be able to find documentation on the classes, API &etc.

Does it exist?  I looked around  on the wiki and seemed to end up at dead links.

The people who write scripts rely on what to write them?  Knowledge of C++ and then using Python to access the objects?

Thank you.  I looked everywhere but in my own back yard.
