Hi

How can I set a text colour that is not in the drop down list? (to specific RGB or CMYK values).

Can I save this to the list?

Thanks in advance

Rob

Welcome to the forum Rob.

You can't use any colours that aren't saved in the document's Colours list. See here http://forums.scribus.net/index.php/topic,2742.msg12707.html#msg12707 for a short explanation.

However, there are many ways to get colours into your document. See here https://wiki.scribus.net/canvas/How_to_create_your_own_colours for more information.

Thanks, that's actually quite easy when you know how.

You're welcome.

At first it might seem like Scribus is being awkward by not letting you create colours "on the fly" but it's for the best in the long run.

The methods for maintaining colours could be a lot more user friendly - for instance, making the Colours dialog non-modal so you can instantly see the changes in the document (or being able to right-click a defined colour and change it from a pop-up or whatever) would make things much better - but, by forcing you to use only defined colours, Scribus is making you be more careful about which colours you use and that makes for a better document in the end.
