UI oversized and unusable
« on: June 24, 2017, 06:13:35 pm »
Hello,

I have Scribus NG installed from the PPA (Scribus 1.5.3 on Ubuntu 16.10). I had been using version 1.5.2 without a problem, but now that it has upgraded to 1.5.3 the UI is scaled up so that it is very big, very pixelated and unusable. This happened previously when I tried to install the trunk version as well. Is there something that I can do to fix this?

Many thanks,

Nick

yes, in 1.5.3 the first bits for supporting hidpi monitors got in.

there are a few things one can do to improve the state, but it's not well documented.
i had to fix my laptop and got to a usable state.
i think that the biggest improvement came from using small icons in the scribus preferences...

can you test it?

Hi a.l.e.

Thanks for your response, sorry I've been away for a few days.

I think I've found where you mean - is it where it says 'Use Small Widgets on Palettes? It hasn't made any difference to the size of things.

Hopefully you can see from my screenshot what the issue is - the tools aren't even all visible on the screen.

Thanks,

Nick
