What have I done wrong with this Inkscape mushroom graphic?

Hi all,

I know this is a Scribus forum, but my question is relevant in that I created an image in Inkscape that appears correctly in Scribus when I import it, but when I send the file to PDF, the image loses all the shading I've done. In the PDF preflight verifier, it does come up with an error saying that I have transparencies in the file, but that has shown up before and when I went through with exporting as a PDF, everything looked fine.

I'm an absolute newbie to Inkscape. I've used DTP programs before, so I feel more comfortable there. But I only started playing around with Inkscape for a couple months.

Thanks!

Older PDF versions can not handle transparency, and Scribus does not yet include a transparency flattener.

Try exporting to PDF 1.5 or 1.6 first to see if that works. If you need a PDF version that does not support transparency, you will need to flatten the PDF using for example ghostscript.

Nope, didn't work. :(

I did install ghostscript, but other than that, know nothing about it.

Is there another way I should be creating different levels of shadowing in the svg. file to avoid this problem and to create a better graphic?
