I downloaded Scribus but my security won't let me download into my applications folder . when I type in my password it says it is the wrong password I have been through the mac password procedure to do this but it still says click on the lock to allow the program to open but up pops the security thing not allowing me to precede . Any ideas on what to do ?

on some os x versions, the first you run an application you did not get from the appstore, you have to right click on the application icon, choose open and confirm that you want to open the application you downloaded from the internets.

does it work?

Those instructions also give information about how to circumvent Gatekeeper - which is the thing that is giving you problems - although what a.l.e wrote above should work in most cases.
