Fonts appear as squares

Hi,

when I change a text box from any font to the font BAGHDAD, instead of the letters only squares appear and only for the font BAGHDAD (see attachement). Couldnt find anything about that on the internet. What is the problem?

I have a mac, scribus 1.4.4 and ghostscript installed.

Thanks for your help!

Andreas, one reason for getting the "squares" is that the font you're using doesn't contain glyphs that relate to the characters used in the text. (Glyphs are the things that you see on the screen.)

In other words, for example, an "a" character in western text may not have an associated glyph in a font that is designed for a language that has no "a" character. (Why design an "a" if you don't use an "a"?)

Try using FontBook to see what glyphs are available.

You might also want to use FontBook to check the font for errors. That could also be a problem.

Hi Garry

thanks a lot. Yes, there seems a problem with the font. But no problem, I found a nother one which is great as well.
