Just one more comment: for me the major issue about spending the time to learn Linux is that right now  I am looking for a job and hardly any companies/nonprofits/small businesses etc.  out there uses Linux.  Amen!

Hm, think twice! I am coming from the *nix world, started with Mac OS X 2008, but I would never switch back. The Mac and OS X is rock solid and simple. Besides this, you are free to use the terminal in Mac OS X, just in case you are missing the command line or bash.

Just my 2 cents.
