A simple but interesting image frame

Here's a quick tip for making a simple but interesting image frame using only the image effects within Scribus.

The Main Image

* Create an image frame and put your image in it. A square image - and thus a square image frame - seems to look better in my opinion.
* Go to "Properties / Image" and set "Scale to Frame Size" on.
* Using 'Properties / Shape" set "Round Corners" to 4pt.

The Second Image

* Duplicate the first image.
* Increase the width and height of the new - second - image by 16 points.
* Right-click and choose "Image Effects".
* Select "Blur" and click ">>" to add the effect.
* Set the blur radius to 4.
* Select "Brightness" and click ">>" to add the effect.
* Set the brightness to 40.
* OK the image effects dialog.
* Go to "Properties / Shape" and set "Round Corners" to 8pt.

The Third Image

* Duplicate the second image.
* Increase the width and height of the new - third - image by 16 points.
* Right-click and choose "Image Effects".
* Select "Blur" in the right-hand list and set the blur radius to 8.
* Select "Brightness" in the right-hand list and set the brightness to 80.
* OK the image effects dialog.
* Go to 'Properties / Shape" and set "Round Corners" to 12pt.

Finishing Up

* Select the second image.
* Right-click and choose "Level -> Lower to Bottom".
* Select the third image.
* Right-click and choose "Level -> Lower to Bottom".
* Drag-select all images.
* Choose menu "Windows -> Align and Distribute".
* Click on the "Centre on vertical axis" button.
* Click on the "Centre on horizontal axis" button.

And that's it, you're done.

Why not try using different effects on the second and third images and see what you get?
Or try making more frames with smaller differences in the effects and sizes.
